Description

One of the great prayer scriptures of all time is now available in paperback. Yogananda told his disciples to read WHISPERS FROM ETERNITY every day - that through these prayers, he would guide them after his passing. With imagery that is vividly beautiful and powerfully alive, Yogananda's prayers draw God into every aspect of everyday life, as the nearest and dearest beloved. Many poetic works can inspire, but few, like this one, have the power to change your life. These verses rank with the greatest mystical poetry of all time: the works of St. John of the Cross, Rumi, Kabir, Mirabai and Omar Khayyam. In this book Paramhansa Yogananda - the great master of yoga and author of the classic Autobiography of a Yogi - shares his exquisitely beautiful thoughts and words filled with longing for the divine. Yogananda was not only a spiritual master, but a master poet, whose poems revealed the hidden divine presence behind even everyday things. Each of these prayer-poems has been spiritualised by this great man of God. Open this book, pick a poem at random and read it. Mentally repeat whatever phrase appeals to you. Within a short time, you will see your consciousness transformed. This book has the power to rapidly accelerate your spiritual growth and provides hundreds of delightful ways for you to begin your own conversation with God.

Author Biography:

Paramhansa Yogananda Born in India in 1893, Paramhansa Yogananda was trained from his early years to bring India's ancient science of Self-realization to the West. In 1920 he moved to the United States. His arrival in Boston in marked the beginning of a new wave of spiritual consciousness in America and throughout the world. Beginning the development of a worldwide work touching millions of lives. Americans were hungry for India's spiritual teachings, and for the liberating techniques of yoga. When he published his now famous "Autobiography of a Yogi" in 1946, it was soon after the close of the second World War, a conflict which he prayed would never be repeated. The book had tremendous influence and inspired spiritual leaders in the growing counter-culture movement which blossomed over a decade later, and has become a spiritual classic and one of the best-loved books of the 20th century, "Autobiography of a Yogi". In addition, Yogananda established headquarters for a worldwide work, wrote a number of books and study courses, gave lectures to thousands in most major cities across the United States, wrote music and poetry, and trained disciples. He was invited to the White House by Calvin Coolidge, and he initiated Mahatma Gandhi into Kriya Yoga, his most advanced technique of meditation. Yogananda's message to the West highlighted the unity of all religions, and the importance of love for God combined with scientific techniques of meditation. His mission was one of world peace and brotherhood, as well as individual Self-realization, both of which he said could be achieved through the practice of transformative meditation techniques such as Kriya Yoga, which he referred to as "the airplane route to God." Through his books, teachings, and practices of meditation and yoga, Yogananda helped to usher in the sweeping increase in interest in peace, consciousness, and self-transformation. For this he is often known today as the "father of yoga in the West." The year 2020 is 100th anniversary of his arrival in Boston - and the birth of his world mission - we celebrate the change of consciousness that began in the 20th century and continues today. In it lies one of our greatest hopes for the future. Swami Kriyananda A prolific author, accomplished composer, playwright, and a world-renowned spiritual teacher, Swami Kriyananda refers to himself simply as "a humble disciple" of the great God-realized master, Paramhansa Yogananda, author of "Autobiography of a Yogi". He met his guru at the young age of twenty-two, and served him during the last four years of the Master's life. And he has done so continuously ever since. Yogananda appointed him as the head of the monastery, authorized him to teach in his name and to give initiation into Kriya Yoga, and entrusted him with the missions of writing and developing what he called "world brotherhood colonies." Kriyananda, a multi-award winning spiritual leader, was appointed to membership in the prestigious Club of Budapest, thereby joining such world-renowned figures as the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Kriyananda has in his lifetime lectured, taught, and written over ninety books based on Yogananda's teachings that have sold over 3 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 28 languages. Recognized as the "father of the spiritual communities movement" in the United States, Swami Kriyananda founded Ananda World Brotherhood Community in 1968. It has served as a model for a number of communities founded subsequently in the United States and Europe. He has established Ananda Sangha, which publishes many of his eighty-six literary works and spreads the teachings of Kriya Yoga throughout India.
