Description

Thank You, MasterAnyone who has read and loved Autobiography of a Yogi will be delighted to find this treasure of personal experiences and heartfelt remembrances of Paramhansa Yogananda by three of his direct disciples. Stories from Yogananda's family members, Hare Krishna Ghosh and Meera Ghosh, who became disciples as teenagers, take the reader on pilgrimage to India to the sacred places and miraculous moments shared with this great yogi. The stories of Peggy Deitz transport one to Yogananda's ashram in California and his time living with devotees in America. These accounts, whether humorous or miraculous, casual or divine, bring to life the experience of being in Yogananda's presence. They give insight into the profound love with which he guided each individual. Yogananda was not only one of the greatest yoga masters of our time. He was an avatar: an incarnation of the Divine. Firsthand experiences from close disciples are a true gift that can help us tune in to his vast nature. At the same time these delightful stories will touch your heart and uplift your spirit.

Author Biography:

Smriti Meera Ghosh was born in Panpur, India in November 1919 (died on August 18, 2002). She met Yogananda at her Aunt's house during his visit to India in 1936. It was during this visit that Yogananda choose her to become the wife of his nephew, Ramakrishna Ghosh. She married in July of 1936. She lived a simple and pious life with her husband and family. She lived a life devoted to her guru, Yogananda. Born in February 1914, in Pasadena, California (died on November 20, 1996). Margret "Peggy" Deitz wrote of "early [spiritual awakenings" as a child. Throughout her childhood, she would practice different spiritual practices and meditations, feeling the depth of the Divine. In early adulthood, Peggy knew she needed spiritual guidance, asking the Divine to send her someone. It was that day (in the 1940's) that she discovered the Autobiography of a Yogi, by Paramhansa Yogananda. And it was that very weekend, while reading the Autobiography, that she was invited to meet Yogananda in San Diego. Soon after she moved into the guru's ashram in Mt. Washington, CA, where she lived and served for many years. Born in Kolkata, India, at 4 Garpar Road-where Yogananda had lived from the time he was eleven until he met his guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar-in October of 1920 and lived there for 74 years until he died on August 1, 2005. At the age of 15, in 1935, Yogananda traveled back to India. It was during this meeting that Hare Krishna's life was changed forever. Hare Krishna Ghosh lived with his grandfather (Yogananda's own father) for 22 years. He spent many years learning spiritual lessons and meditating with his grandfather. He followed the teachings of his guru, Paramhansa Yogananda, for many years, living a simple life for God. Hare Krishna was then married to Anjali Bose in 1948. In 1995, Hare Krishna wrote his memoirs of his life as a member of Yogananda's family, and as his disciple.
