Dreamchild
Undertaking a journey to Columbia University to honour esteemed author Lewis Carroll, octogenarian Alice Hargreaves (Coral Browne, Auntie Mame) reminisces fondly about her childhood. As a young girl (portrayed by Amelia Shankley), she remembers her friendship with the writer, known then as Rev. Charles Dodgson (Oscar® nominee Ian Holm, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit).
Kindred spirits, their special relationship would not only ignite Dodgson’s imagination but inspire his considerable writing, posing as the creative catalyst for his most beloved work of all – Alice in Wonderland. Detailing the remarkable career of one of the literary world’s great writers, through the power of Alice as muse, Dreamchild presents a thought-provoking tale of friendship and propinquity. Written by award winner Dennis Potter (The Singing Detective) and featuring dazzling puppetry from the famed Jim Henson Creature Shop, Dreamchild is a journey into the heart of mixed memories and pure imagination.
