The new Doctor is far more like the classic series, which is a good thing in my book. There's a two-part episode on here which features a new take on the Silurians – a “monster” which was used during some of the Doctor Who stories of the 70's & 80's.
The premise is that this was the race which inhabited the earth before humans, but were forced underground – in the meantime, the humans took over – now both have a claim on the planet.
While the Jon Pertwee Doctor storyline of the 70's (The Silurians) was far more clever politically, this is far better technically, and still a great take on a classic. But even better is the first episode on this disc, “Amy's Choice”. Great viewing, a clever storyline and a wise & clever Doctor – just the way he should be!
