If you are looking for a hilariously good time with your kids at storytime,
then look no further! B.J. Novak's The
Book With No Pictures and One
More Thing – Stories and Other Stories have been causing eruptions of
laughter the world over!
You might think a book with no pictures seems boring and serious. Except
…here's how books work. Everything written on the page has to be said by the
person reading it aloud. Even if the words say …BLORK. Or BLUURF. And even if
the words include things like BLAGGITY BLAGGITY and MY HEAD IS MADE OF BLUEBERRY
PIZZA! That's the rule. That's the deal. Brilliantly irreverent and very, very
silly, The Book With No Pictures will delight kids and have them begging for
more. From award-winning US comic writer and actor, B.J. Novak.
Calling all Sci-Fi geeks, here is a book put together just for you! Sci-Fi
Chronicles – A Visual History of the Galaxy's Greatest Science Fiction
presents an absolutely breath taking 576 pages of science
fiction history!
From “Barbarella” to “Blade Runner,” from “Solaris” to
“Star Wars,” and from “1984” to “2001,” “Sci-Fi Chronicles”
seeks out 200 of the greatest galactic creations. Presented in an arresting
blend of incisive text, infographic timelines, and stunning photographs, each
chronologically arranged entry features an entertaining overview written by a
science fiction expert, plus: The lifespan of sci-fi creations, for example,
from book to movie to television series.
“Sci-Fi Chronicles” is a truly international guide, with entries
focusing on everything from Hollywood blockbusters to Russian cult classics, and
from European literature to Australian franchises. It is perfect for dipping
into, while its memory-jogging mentions and illustrations make it impossible to
put down. It will delight long-standing sci-fi aficionados, yet with a scope
that extends from vintage volumes to amazing anime, “Sci-Fi Chronicles” will
also entrance a younger generation.
We have a few beard aficionados here at Mighty Ape HQ, and they wear their
beards loudly and proudly! But not everyone has been blessed with the ability to
grow themselves a handsome forest of facial hair.
Thankfully, Donald
Lemke is here to help, with another offering in his Wearable
Book Series – now you too can sport your favourite style of
beard with the Book-O-Beards!
Featuring the classic beards of pirates, lumberjacks and even a few
moustaches thrown in for good measure, this book is everything you need for a
rudimentary education in beard wearing.
We couldn't resist the temptation to try it out for ourselves, and we think
you'll agree that the results are pretty beard-tastic!

More Fool Me by
Stephen Fry
Stephen Fry invites readers to take a glimpse at his life story in the
unputdownable More Fool Me. ‘Oh dear I am an arse. I expect there'll be what
I believe is called an “intervention” soon. I keep picturing it. All my
friends bearing down on me and me denying everything until my pockets are
emptied. Oh the shame.’ In his early thirties, Stephen Fry – writer,
comedian, star of stage and screen – had, as they say, ‘made it’.What
could possibly go wrong?
Everyday
Delicious
Chelsea's bestselling first book At My Table is loved by many for its tasty
and hearty recipes. Her second book contains the same relaxed, accessible style
of Kiwi food but it focuses more on ‘week-night’ style meals that are quick
and easy to whip up. And as with all Chelsea's recipes, they are absolutely
delicious. It's a lively and fast-paced book, pitched nicely for young families
who are pushed for time.

The Martian by
Andy Weir
I'm stranded on Mars. I have no way to communicate with Earth. I'm in a
Habitat designed to last 31 days. If the Oxygenator breaks down, I'll
suffocate. If the Water Reclaimer breaks down, I'll die of thirst. If the Hab
breaches, I'll just kind of explode. If none of those things happen, I'll
eventually run out of food and starve to death. So yeah. I'm screwed.
The Martian is an incredibly enjoyable read that has all the action and
humour of a blockbuster movie.
Desert God by
Wilbur Smith
Wilbur Smith, bestselling author of River God returns to Ancient Egypt in this
long-awaited new historical epic. A novel of Ancient Egypt from the bestselling
author of River God. Wilbur Smith is a master at the helm of one of the greatest
stories of all time.
“Game of Thrones meets Ancient Egypt in this magnificent,
action-packed epic.”

We were just winding down for the day yesterday when our shipment of The
World of Ice and Fire arrived! This awesome book deserves a proper
look so we took some shots showing the gorgeous content George R.R. Martin has
provided.
The World of Ice and Fire is essentially a history of
Westeros and beyond; the abundance of work previously existed only in George
R.R. Martin's own notes. For the first time we can have a real look at the
world supporting everyone's favourite fantasy saga. Each segment is
illustrated with stunning artwork from some of the most noted fantasy
artists.
This is truly not to be missed and would be the perfect gift for fans of the
novels or TV series. Jump over to The
World of Ice and Fire page to see more!

We had the pleasure of hosting MasterChef winner Chelsea
Winter last night at Mighty Ape HQ for a live
chat on our Facebook page. We gave Mighty Ape customers the opportunity to
ask Chelsea mostly foodie questions. She happily shared her knowledge of food
and cooking, and life in general.
Here are are a few questions and answers from the live chat…
Q. If you were starting a herb garden off for the first time in order
to use in cooking, but only had really limited space, what herbs would you
suggest prioritising?
A. Parsley, thyme, rosemary x
Q. What did your parents do to help you when you were a child, to get
you into cooking and at what age?
A. They never forced me, I just learned by watching and helping – and
I learned heaps although I never really realised that until later!
