Author Biography:

Barry LaValley is President, Retirement Lifestyle Center and has studied the retirement transition in North America, Australia and Great Britain for the past twenty years. His company is a research, education and advocacy organization focused on the non-financial aspects of the transition into retirement for aging boomers. Barry's approach is to look at the psychological and emotional aspects of aging; he then uses the research available from around the globe to help people understand their passage to this next phase of life. His work in the financial services industry starting in 1980 helped him to build his model for the transition into retirement. He has contributed extensively to the text books on retirement for Moodys Analytics as well as other prominent publications. Barry conducts his work around the globe and speaks and writes extensively on retirement issues. In addition, he has worked with several major financial institutions in both Canada and the US to help build client-facing programs on retirement. Barry and his wife Melissa live in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
