"Destrution makes for an amazing game."
5 stars"

Further to my first review, I now own the full version. And I'm writing this fresh from spending an hour destroying one /very/ large bridge with nothing but a few detonation packs and a sledgehammer. Something that was unashamedly fun, and probably won't be beaten for sheer enjoyment value until the games allow the protagonist to shove the less fortunate down stairs.

Red Faction Guerilla is the best in the series to date. First person has been traded for third person – An unconvential move to make midway through a game series, but one that has worked. You start as a miner who ends up working for the Red Faction because he has no other option left to him, and then begin your fight to liberate Mars. Something which can be done with a lot of explosives and a reckless disregard for others, or with a little bit of tact and help. Or a mixture of both.

Civillian Morale has an impact in both profitability of missions as well as Guerilla recruiting, which the game takes care of for you, and can be acquired through doing missions to benefit civilians or destroying the oppressive EDF propaganda. Control for each of the main sectors of Mars is represented by how active the Red Faction is, and the assets that EDF have in the area – Meaning that instead of a menial ‘defend this’ mission or a ‘defeat ten thousand enemies’ mission, one need only find an building the EDF likes, take up a position far enough away and have at it with a rocket launcher.

Destruction is unprecedented, the only downside that I've found so far is the inability to actually destroy the ‘ground’, which can be forgiven with the amount of buildings there are to be reduced to nothing. The protagonist is hardy enough to have a building land on him without dying, most of the time, so getting up close and personal upon a building with a sledgehammer becomes that much more satisfying, but he is still vulnerable to bullets and large vehicles, so the game still has interesting difficulty.

The ability to tear down pretty much everything is this games main selling point, though, despite suitable music, a great plot, easy controls and an fun assortment of womans. While not wholly realistic, damaged buildings can and will fall apart on their own, causing more damage to themselves and those around them. Cover wears down under explosive fire, and any game that allows you to tear down a barracks with nothing but a sledgehammer deserves some hefty respect.

This game is a perfect example of everything that a modern game should be. It's well worth it's price, it's replayable, interesting, polished, well structured and has one hell of a wow-factor. But if that's not enough for you, I'll say this once again.

I spent an hour destroying a bridge. (IN hindsight, I could probably do it in about five minutes, but I'd need some of the equipment you only get in the latter stages of the game.) That is to say, that I blew up the tarmac, drove vehicles through several of the girders and then detonated them, and then hacked away with a sledgehammer to sever as many sections as possible. I didn't feel like I'd spent an hour working at a stupid, optional in-game task. I felt like I had actually achieved something. And I haven't been moved like that, by a game, for a very long time.

And chances are, when I've destroyed everything on the map, and enjoyed the ending once or twice more? I'm going to start it up again, and head back to that one bridge.

"Wonderful destruction let down by poor story and graphics"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The ability to destroy anything around you with your mighty hammer never gets old, but is tempered by a dated presentation and a poor story. The AI is good, but all too often the game tries to make you hit and run, when all you want to do is stay and fight. This gets quite frustrating after a while.

"Brilliant"

Mars gun fighter. Now this game is a little graphically challenged but you forget all about that with the story and the missions. Destroying buildings with whatever you can C4, rockets even you own sledge hammer. Lot of fun and you really get addicted to it, The best part of this game is for sure the destruction of it all

"Destruction, A LOT"
4 stars"

Red faction guerrilla an awesome game should be had by every ps3 player, it has a nice striking presentation with sharp CGI cutscenes. The story to Guerrilla is pretty mediocre but otherwise this is a good game with anything to destroy. One downside to this game is that the open world is a bit to open world, the isn't much urban life in it so you'll be driving a lot. Red Faction Guerrilla is one game for people to get.

"Another solid release from Volition Inc."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Another quality game release from Volition Inc. Red Faction: Guerrilla is a third-person open-world action shooter set on Mars. Players take control of Alec Mason, a mining engineer, who arrives on mars seeking work in the colonies. After a certain awry incident, Mason finds himself drawn to the Red Faction movement where he must put an end to the Earth Defense Force's evil, cruel reign over the citizens of Mars. A very fun shooter from the Saints Row series developer that will have players feeling pleased. The main story missions and side quests coupled with the open-world exploration will enable players to effortlessly sink hours into this game. A must have game if you fancy the third-person action shooter.

"Great value for the money"

Great game for the price. The graphics are good although a couple of scenes could do with a bit more work on them, but all in all not a bad game if your looking for a reasonable priced game for a long hours of fun and shooting this is for you.

"Somewhat different to other FPS but its great fun"
5 stars"

When I first tried the demo of this game I didn't think much of it. But when I got hold of the full release I am HOOKED!

I'm really into the usually FPS like Call of duty etc but this game has several elements which is quite attractive. The smashing of buildings part is fantastic. I looked stupid to my partner just hanging around a building smashing it for minutes for a few collection of debris but it is all fun. The guerilla missions are ok too.

I fully recommend this game to anyone who is into destructions and guns. Sorry for gamers who like Sims stuff this is not for you.

"The best environment destructable game ever"

This is the best game I have played on PS3 yet! It has the best weapons vehicles and environment they should bring another one out but I don't think any game will top this, its the best graphical game I've ever seen!!!! PLAY IT!!!!

"I just love being able to smash everything!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Amazing game, probably not everyone's piece of cake, but it's such good stress relief, smashing walls, blowing up buildings, watching them fall down, throwing explosives at vehicles and seeing them fly through the air. But there's more to the game then just being destructive, the missions keep you busy and time flies by…

"Blowing stuff up has never been this fun!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Smashing stuff has never been this fun. Red faction Guerrilla takes the destructible surrounding of the first games to a whole new level, while the departure from mist person shooter may put some people off it is a much welcome change as the game takes on a free roaming GTA style.

The storyline is a solid and similar in content to the original games where you the play the brother of a recently murdered rebel who now takes i upon himself to be the force in the rebel alliance. The games possesses a number of upgrabable weapons that can all be used to blow up bulidings.

Vehicles also play a large part in this game and the side challenges which can get a bit repeptive are a good distraction from the destrcution.

Multiplayer is fresh and there is a certain satisfaction knocking one of your opponents upside the head with a sledgehammer. No split screen which is always a shame.

If you like destroying stuff then dont pass this game up.

"BRILLIANT!"

I have only played the first “mission” but absolutely love this game. I played the original when that first came out some years ago and didn't like it at all. Excellent graphics and game play. Anything you see can be DESTROYED! Also, while this isn't like other FPS games where you can go on a rampage for ages, the “enemy” does increase its assault against you, you have to think before you act! You also acquire “help” near the end of the first mission which is a nice little bonus to help fend off the enemy.
