PS5 PlayStation Portal Remote Player reviews

First week impressions. Easy set up and linking with the PS5, looks good on a nice 1080p screen, and feels great to play. Games visuals are slightly reduced, each game is affected differently I.e no HDR/4K vs your tv. When viewed on a smaller screen it feels very minimal, but it is there. My tv and console setup is in our main family living room. I’m not hardline to my router, everything is wi fi, I use Spark 5ghz dedicated line for gaming. I use my PlayStation headset and plug it into the portal. I have tried lots of games over the last week, all have run and looked good to great. I have played (BF2042) online without any noticeable lag, slight visual difference and ran great. I finished LOU2 on the portal (I was already 25hours in) which ran and looked incredible. I haven’t games this much in years. 9th Feb I played Helldivers 2 online with friends, from the comfort of the couch, with 0 issues and had an absolute blast. The ability to just pick up and play the portal, the comfort and relaxed feel it brings has made gaming just generally more enjoyable. For some reasons, I have played games I wouldn’t have bothered with on the tv due to the handheld /chill feel. Rose tinted glasses after the first week, I’m extremely happy with the purchase

Highly Recommended, have my PS5 hooked to a C3 LG OLED, I was a little worried about how it would look on the portal player, I was amazing it look great! and works fine on 5G router.

Got this because I am not always able to be near my TV.. It is good to be able to take it anywhere. Runs perfectly with no lag. Picture is perfect on it and colour is just as good. Great little handheld gaming device. Super happy with my purchase

I've been on the fence with this device but brought one hoping it would be what I was expecting and it definitely is! PlayStation Portal works super well but as everything says you do need a good internet connection. I also manage to play with it at work and connect to my PS5 at home which freaks out the wife! Love playing PS5 anywhere in the house now!

I absolutely love the portal. Being able to play my ps5 games anywhere in the house rocks. For me works perfect with no internet issues my ps5 is connected via 5ghz wifi and so is my portal and works perfect. Im super happy with it

Very easy to set up and connect to my PS5 console, had alot of fun using it but the only downside to it is, connection keeps cutting off, twice it happened, especially when it lags slowly. But other than that it was worth the purchase since I can comfortably lay on my bed or sofa instead of sitting up straight to look at the TV.

Extremely limited handheld device and imo the worst portable gaming device thus far. I originally got the portal so I can play games when it’s quiet at work and for the last month and a bit I’ve had it it’s been basically useless on networks that the ps5 is not connected too, even when I use mine directly next to the ps5 the lag is so bad you can not play any online game without fear of messing up my stats or loosing the game due to the heavy input lag and I’m on the fastest/best plan from my provider. But the lag input gets extremely bad on networks away from my console. I’ve done everything to improve the connection but nothing seems to work. It’s gotten to the point that it can no longer connect to my console for longer then 2mins without it loosing connection if I use the portal away from home. Trust me save your money because this product is absolutely dogsh!t. Don’t trust YouTube reviews coz I did and that’s what convinced me to buy in the first place
