"STUNNING"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is the best Prince of Persia game since Sands of Time, and I will tell you why. First off, it is quite different in some ways – for example you cannot die. This is not necessarily a con because it removes any frustration that could have been encountered during any past Prince titles.

The Visual style and Graphics are great, some of the best on the PS3, and therefore best of all time. It all looks like a beautiful painting and it makes you feel like never putting the controller down.

I pretty quickly grew tired of some of the other recent top titles such as Fallout 3, Dead Space and others, but I am excited to play through this wonderful game for many hours to come!

"An exciting ride"

The acrobatic exploration and environmental puzzles is the main focus of Prince of Persia and they are all done brilliantly. The addition of decent combat encounters and genuine puzzles mixes things up to ensure the adventure never gets stale.

The prince (main character of the game) is all about climbing, leaping, and scaling around the game world. So it is good news that the animation of the prince's movements are done very well. For example, wall running, swinging from poles, and other athletic maneuvers look and feel fluid, and the platforming is exhilarating when stringed together. You can move through the land in a completely non-linear fashion, with the option of teleporting between cleared areas. The camera is also very good at following the prince around without obstructing his view.

The platforming and combat is simplified so you don't have to be an expert in the genre to execute exciting maneuvers. You will only ever face one enemy at a time, and it is possible to avoid any or all non-boss encounters if you choose to. The combo-based fighting system is highly enjoyable, especially when achieving long strings of beautifully cinematic attacks, as they can be just as pleasing as a good stretch of platforming.

What will catch your eyes immediately in the beginning of the prince's adventure are the vivid, quasi-cel-shaded characters and environments. They are simply gorgeous to look at, if a little cartoonish. They are definitely the star of the game and, accompanied by an excellent melodic, orchestral theme, the game just never fails to impress.

However, as good as the game is, there are some portions of the game that could cause irritation and frustration. There are some flying sequences similar to on-rail shooters, where the flight-path is predetermined and while in the air, you could only move your controlling character from left to right, or up and down to avoid obstacles in your way. The problem here is that the camera is placed too close to the character and everything around you is blurry (perhaps to give a sense of speed) so it can be difficult to fully see everything around you. Often you will not be able to determine whether an obstacle ahead of you is a hazard or not until it is already too late. Once you hit something, you will have to retry the sequence again.

The game is also not all that challenging. Depending on how you view it, it could be a good thing or a bad thing. You simply cannot lose in this game. Elika, the supporting character, is always there to save your life, returning you back to solid ground if you missed a jump, for instance. Besides advancing the plot, she also acts as the physical representation of the many traditional gameplay mechanics you probably know and love, such as double-jumping or, flying during flight sequences that was mentioned before. And the environments in the game world are marked with physical indication that points you in the right direction. If that is not enough, you can also ask Elika to point you in the correct path. You will hardly find your self not knowing what to do next, even for puzzles, because Elika often provides you with helpful hints if you talk to her.

I personally consider this game to be one of the best I have played this year. I love how simple and fun it is. If you can overlook its flaws, you are going to be in for one exciting ride.

"Brilliant!"

A different twist to the Prince Of Persia series… First off you can't die, but if fighting a boss an you do fall; they regain health… The animation is both simplistic an beautiful at the same time. The visual style of it being quite appealing… The story line is straight forward, yet once you hit ending. Kind of pointless. With no continuation on from this game, it really leaves you wondering “What happens next-” never the less a game to play, specially fans of the Prince Of Persia series [:

"Addictive and great art style"
4 stars"

Great Game,

This game was my first introduction to the series and I was more than happy.

The Art style is just phenomenal, you will find your self just looking around at the insanely beautifully created world.

The battles are epic and really fun to chain up those combos

The game play is easy to learn and all of the acrobatics are fun and great to get form area to area.

Cant wait to play the next chapter.

Over all 4 out of 5 for me

"WOW"

The game is amazing! The story line is average but on all other levels this game excels, its just so much fun to play, you don't even realise you're playing a platformer. And the combat is so fresh and awesome in an age of button mashers, it truly adds some cinematic approaches to an incredibly cool game.

"Assassins creed for kid"

After finish this game in 10 hours, somehow I'm not quite sure if this game is worth keeping. Once you have master how to jump, grab and climb. You may find this game rather ‘plain’

Combat system is rather nice, you have 4 types of combos which can be chain together; however you probably encounter less than 50 enemies in total so you might not be able to fully enjoy or experience all the possible combos.

If I can finish this game in 10 hours, you probably could do it in 8 hours or less, so my suggestion would be to rent it first.

"Unchallenging but beautiful"
4 stars"

The visual style of this game is fantastic. Cell-shading tends to be associated with a lack of detail, but what the developers have achieved here is quite the opposite, with a lot of detail present in the apparently simple graphics.

The control scheme works very well, with quite forgiving timing on the platforming controls meaning the Prince's movements link together with a lot of fluidity. You will need to do a bit of travelling, but the ease of movement helps to take the sting out of it.

The combat system is the most radical change from previous titles, but works. You'll have few encounters in total, and they take the form of 1 on 1 battles. They basically boil down to parrying the enemy and countering with a chain of attacks. While not frenetically paced, button-mashing is avoided

The ‘can't die’ aspect is a great alternative to a loading screen every time you fall off a ledge. It may have been better to push the player a little further back however, to levy some level of punishment for your lack of coordination.

This is an enjoyable experience, although gamers wanting to have their skills pushed may want to look elsewhere

"A absorbing and imaginative game impaired by the games ignorance"
4 stars"

Anticipation ran through my body as I watched the first teaser trailer in 2008, but what remains now as i draw the remnant memory of Prince of Persia from the back of my head, well I will tell you.

Story: (9/10) Prince of Persia's story can best be described as French, although it pulls you into its developed plot, setting and character, it neglects the effort to fully satisfy or push its identity into new directions in terms of story. The prince although quirky, funny and impulsive, lacks creativity and is a figurehead for the mundane tradition that trails this aged series, fall from grace, gain the power, kill the baddie and save the princess, with that said Prince of Persia is no fairy tale, cleverly brewing emotion in events to push the pace along an entertaining and thrilling storyline set to satisfy the majority of players.

Gameplay: (8/10) Reinvention drives interactive elements, without reinvention Mario, Megaman and Metal gear solid would have sadly have been left in the dust, the problem is that in Prince of Persia, emerges this popcorn shell effect, where as a shell is stuck at the back of your mouth, at first it is amusing trying the content of what is possible but quickly irritation becomes setup.

Overall: (8.5/10) You might think that my review is harsh but i am indicating what is bad with the game not that the game is bad, the Prince is back !!!

Very similar to Uncharted in that it leads you from one cutscene to another seamlessly – very fun – in fact more fun than Uncharted if you aren't into aiming with the joystick.

"Awesome Game!" Purchased on Mighty Ape

This game brings a whole new life to the Prince of Persia franchise and boy is it FUN. You can run, jump, slide, attack all in one exciting story that will keep you excited for ages, sure some of the camera angles are dodgy but still worth a buy ‘n’ play
