"Great game..."

… but I wouldn't pick this up unless you want to be challenged.

Graphically the game looks fantastic and runs at 60hz flat regardless of the resolution. the environments do feel a little boxed in at times, but considering this is all n all a port there isn't really much one can do without destroying the original level design. Sound is great and the controls are very responsive (this I wasn't expecting based on videos of the game).

The game is very challenging, by default the game starts at “normal skill” which is as far as I can tell, is near the God of war 2's titan mode level (although in gow2 the bosses can 1 shot you on that skill, in Ninja Gaiden Sigma the bosses can't 1 shot you, but can quickly remove 70% of your life if you don't block or dodge). If one does 3 times the game will allow u to optionally pick “Ninja Dog skill” which is about Gow2 hard mode level.

The first level quickly trains you in some of the simple aspects of the game and then throws a boss at you that will most likely almost perfect u the first time around. The boss pretty much prepares u for the level you will need to play at to progress in the game, so if you can happily throw yourself at the guy 3–4 times and beat him you will be greatly rewarded. I love challenging games like this but others might find this frustrating.

Overall I think this game is a pretty good buy, its very challenging but I think that if you like challenging games you'll be greatly rewarded. A must have for players that want a challenging game in their game library.

"Brilliant In Execution"
5 stars"

Honestly, Ninja Gaiden Sigma is probably best viewed as a meaty appetiser for the proper next-gen Ninja Gaiden that is almost certainly in development. There are still some camera issues, it's still maddeningly hard, and it won't interest you now if it hasn't already, but we're in love all over again, especially thanks to the chunky dose of new content. And the graphical improvements and gameplay refinements should ensure that old fans are unsheathing their steel all over again alongside newbies dipping their toes into the series. Highly recommended. (IGN)
