Put simply, Shadow of the Collossus is definitely in the top 3 of the greatest games of all-time… Arguably, the best ever.
Note that it is so philosophical, so magical, and yet so defining of the person who plays it, that it is the game that Sandler and his friend (Don Cheadle) play all night and bond over it in the film “Reign Over Me”… right after Don says, “I don't get addicted” as he takes the controller “for ten minutes” (I cracked up at the writer's knowingness) and for good reason. It is unique and special and tragic and wonderful, like Sandler's character in the film… oh, even a little scary!
At once simple and complex, I have already played and clocked it on the ps2… but, I never played ICO… reportedly also awesome and tied into SOTC (I say nothing…)…so, dang…
It's ON!!
This will be awesome, for any one who hasn't play this or who were thinking
of buying the ps2 version, this will be the time to buy it, considering the
price of the ps2 versions can get expensive.
Graphically speaking, both games have a certain style which looks beautiful and
on the PS3 it should be better.
Both games also have a great story behind them which adds to the
“experience”. Its something quite magical, trust me.
So my break down Graphics 10/10 Gameplay 10/10
Story 10/10 Price 10/10
If you've never played Ico or Shadow of the Colossus, now is the perfect time! Not only are they hard to find games and utterly amazing, when you do they will be quite pricey. Now's your chance to have your own part of gaming history, with amazing story's and gameplay, any gamer with a flair for the quirkiness of creativity will fall in love.
More a piece of art than a video game in it's own right Ico pushed the envelope technically of what could be achieved within games in 2001, and still holds it's own to this day.
Subtle movement of clothe, fantastic lighting and unforgettable environments make this game not only visually stunning but aid in telling a rich and engrossing story.
Challenging puzzles and traditional platform keep Ico interesting throughout the game, although simply staring out across the surreal, engrossing landscapes can be entertaining enough. Locations can inspire wonder, mystery and at moments have a some what edge of the earth feeling of beautiful isolation.
For anyone who hasn't played Ico yet I cannot recommend it enough, a classic for the ages that will set in firmly your mind and will definitely be revisited through out years to come.
these games bring back so many memories, it doesn't matter if you have played these awesome games before or not, they deserve a place in every gamers collection!
and what a wicked way to prepare for the last guardian!
