Description

Charlotte and Chopin are two adventurous, conscientious bunnies. Equal is a watercolor picture-book addition to the Charlotte and Chopin series of children's books. This book illustrates equality. Charlotte and Chopin walk through the pages in comic book style boxes while introducing young readers and their parents to those who influence their daily lives. Represented are their friends, their mentors, and their teachers, in various locations. Comparisons are made between boy/girl, short/tall, country folk/city slickers, teachers/rockstars, business mother/stay-at-home mother, smart/athletic, old/young, handicapped/non-handicapped, lgbtq family/traditional family, introverts/extroverts, business father/stay-at-home father, large family/small family, and a movie star/and a software programmer. Differences, or not, Charlotte and Chopin (and all characters) always think they are ... equal. The final colourful page of the book contains all of the characters surrounding Charlotte and Chopin who are themselves wearing shirts that say "We Are Equal." Good for ages 1-7

Author Biography:

E-V Banks is currently a student at Bronx High School of Science. She came up with the characters of Charlotte and Chopin and presented them to her mum, Simone, asking her if they could write a story together based on her ideas. E-V was nine years old at the time. The authors and illustrators divided the work in a collaborative fashion. E-V drew all characters and approved all background illustrations and painting. The story was written by both of them. Mother and daughter live their lives as a student and a digital marketing manager in New York City. They both work for the small social media family company, Sim One, LLC.
