"Great improvement on the Original"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Initial impressions of the game was a little bit nostalgic as it has been a little while since AC1, so it was great to get back into the whole story line (even thought it is through the eyes of a different ancestor).

Some parts of it get a little creepy as the music them with the uncovering of more story line & puzzles

There are a lot of additional features from the original, from collecting different ranges of weapons and armour. Also instead of collecting the pointless ‘flags’ in AC1, there are now treasure chests and other things to collect (some of which add to the story line).

The addition of currency in the game adds another dynamic since you have the option to spend in on varoius upgrades etc (i wont spoil it).

They graphics have been toned down a little however, they have reduced the pixel count and you will notice some of the textures suffering because of this. (if not for this I would have given it 5 stars)

Overall a great game with plenty to offer, one that I will actually finish as well. Definately recommended

"Very Interesting Storyline but..."
4 stars"

This game has a very interesting storyline but falling off rooftops and fighting some of the tougher guys can get frustrating at times.

In the begining its was hard for me to want to play at all but after most of the main characters family gets hung to death, the game changed a lot for me and wanting to know what will happen next kept me playing all the way. Running on rooftops does get better with practice but fighting always seemed hard for me even after you get to learn a few new moves which I never used lol :)

"Best game on PS3!"
5 stars"

I pre-ordered the Black Edition and finished the game the other day. It's a brilliant game, well worth the money. Isn't repetative as the first game (Games and life is generally repetative.) Great action, storyline, humor, more fighting techniques, weapons, extra things to do, and being able to customize Ezio. I can't wait for the third Assassin's Creed. (Word is it is being worked on as a Trilogy!)

"Wata game"

This by far has to be 1 of the best single player games I have played in a long time. It 1 of those games that really gets your brain to think from start to finish. Once you start playing the game you are HOOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"It is as good as it seems"
5 stars"

Wow, What a big turn around from AC1. The game itself is much bigger and better than AC1 (make AC1 looks like Demo) In AC2, you continue on from AC1 story, overall game play still pretty much the same. however it is not just ‘Find certain target, do the deed, repeat’, There are tons of side quests in this game from Mail delivery, racing, beating, assassination.

There are multiple type of enemy from agile, seeker and Brute. Multiple weapon types from bow, sword, dagger, mace, spear, great sword, battle axe.

You can also earn money, invest and improve your very own villa, buy new equipments / weapons.

There are a few gliches then and there (my PS3 froze a few times) but I still love it.

"A lot better"
4 stars"

Assassin's Creed 2 is an obvious step up from the first, and takes away a lot of the repetitive missions such as listening in on a conversation, and beating up someone who holds information.

One thing I did not think there was much of an upgrade in was the graphics, sure it does look better, but the first game had awesome graphics when it was released, this game almost has identical graphics, with an improved blood and gore system.

I just finished the game last night, and I can tell you now, the story is a LOT better and more immersive than the first game. You actually feel a connection to Ezio, the protagonist. Overall, this is an excellent game, with an awesome story. It does however, lack replay value in some senses, as at the end you can go back and play memory sequences in any order, find all the collectibles etc… but definitely worth the purchase if you are a fan of the first, this game only does it better! 4 stars

"Better than the first one"

This game is the best assassins creed game I have played so far. There is so much you can do and the game is not short, it takes quite a few hours to compleate which just means more fun for you.

This game is another must have

"Fantastic but quite a specific audience"

Complex constant-guessing plot but not so hard out that you throw the controller at the tv. Just right. Like warm porridge.

A third person open world game, you get to travel between Italian cities in the Renaissance and kill people stealthily or fight them with swords, hammers and daggers

"Awesome 1 player game"

I've been playing this backwards, starting with AC Brotherhood first, and frankly AC 2 holds up to the newer game in terms of story and environment, and is almost as good in terms of gameplay.

I really enjoyed this game

"I'm hooked"

Great game. My wife brought me this because she loved watching the story in the first game, now shes asks me to play so she can watch this second storyline.

Great sequel to the first. New weapons, new storyline and loving the new wrist blade.

It has me hooked.

"If you can see it, you can do it"

Assassin's 2 is a great game. Full stop. An maybe an exclamation point too. The feeling of being chased through the streets by thugs after quietly scoping out, positioning and stabbing your target in the neck is something most of us strive not to feel in real life. Thankfully, Assasin's does it well virtually. The gameplay is refined, precise and entertaining. The story is authentic to the time setting(s) and engaging. Highly recommended.

"Whole lot of awesome!"
5 stars"

This game is exceptional. The graphics and gameplay are superb and by far exceed the previous game. The story this time around is far more intriguing.

"Just like Assassins Creed, but without all of the annoying parts"
5 stars"

The first Assassins Creed was one of my favourite games by far and away. I finished it three times, but each time seemed like more and more of a chore. Go to this city, climb some towers, kill that guy, repeats ad nauseum.

Assassins Creed 2 still has the “go here, climb that, kill him” bits, but now its broken up by more well thought out story-progressing missions with much more variety, as well some wonderful optional missions – races, assassinations etc etc.

The fights are more now complex, but somehow still easy to get into, and gear upgrades make doing all the added side missions worthwhile.

Highly, highly recommended, and I can't wait for Brotherhood to come out.

"An all-round stunning game"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This game pretty much solved all the problems I had with the first assassins creed. I was a bit nervous before I bought it as I hadn't enjoyed the first one much, but I am loving this game. The story flows well and is continuously interesting, alot more fast-paced than the first assassins creed- definitely a must-buy if you are in to stealth/action games.

"Extremely immersive"
5 stars"

Really fun immersive game with open world game play. A bit let down by not brilliant texturing but defiantly a must buy.

"Love this game !!!"

This game is awesome and so is mighty ape, i totally recommend the both of them. Great sequel to a great game.

"What a sequel should be"
4 stars"

For fans of the seamless game play of AC1 and lovers of the hidden blade, are in for a real treat. AC2 takes what players learned in the first game and expands on it even further. So as time has progressed as has the technology in the game. No longer does the new Hero, Ezio have to loose a finger to become part of the brotherhood, his close friend and ally Leonardo Da Vinci has modified not one, but TWO hidden blades. He engineers a hidden pistol into one of the blades, he also does something really special for you with a flying machine.

There are some other changes to he game as well, you no longer drown when you decide to take a dip in the water, you can jump higher due to certain skills learned and you can even disarm guards, which can make for alot of fun when you kill them with a pole axe.

You no longer get the annoying repetitive “Money please” or rantings of town heralds. The sounds of Renaissance Italy are lifelike and more realistic than ever, with sounds of people doing trade, people chatting about the latest artwork from their favourite painter, really put you there in the times and make the game far more enjoyable.

The physics are fantastic in that when you are running you no longer trip over people, when you walk your clothing isn't soaked in starch and moves with you and bodies fall in different ways when struck with a blade.

There is one down side however, you cannot go back and do missions like you could in the first game which makes for the trophy collectors out there a tough game. So if you are wanting to get all the trophy's in the game first time round for bragging rights, you will have to have a list of them close by at all times.

Other than that, this is a fantastic game and shows Hollywood what a sequel should be like.

And with such big shoes to fill, I hope that Brotherhood does not disappoint us.

"Great Game"
5 stars"

This game was one of the best games of 2009, the economics simulator was great and the free running mechanic was off the chart extremely fun a must have!!

"The Creed reigns surpreme!!!!"
5 stars"

I was a bit skeptical about getting this game at first. But the hype won me over and I'm glad it did. The game improves in all the areas of the original. Adding new factions, new weapons, better graphics, a better storyline, better environments, and you can swim!!! Its always fun killing with a wrist blade.

"Amazing Storyline"
4 stars"

This game is a major step up and has the improvements a true sequel should have. For fans of the first game, the sequel removes any signs of repetitiveness from the storyline ensuring you'll never get bored. The story still contains all the plot twists that makes the series great. The game starts off with you leaving Abstergo and moving to start the fight between the Assassin's and the Templars. Time to fight!

"My favourite game ever."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Just as soon as I tohught Modern Warfare 2 was the most addictive game of all time, I got this and was blown away by the sheer awesomeness. The story is well told and the amount of sidequests you can do is huge.

Even without playing the first game, I can still understand the plot and follow on to the story line with ease.

The controls start off as hard to grasp, but within 10 minutes you master them and use Ezio to perform awesome assassinations with his arsenal of varied weaponary like the dual hidden blades and his pistol.

The sheer size of the game makes it worth palying as you will find yourself caught up in searching for treasure, performing mail deliveries, buying weapons, platforming in the 6 Assassin tombs and chasing and killing Templars and guards.

10/10 – an amazing game I recommend to all PS3 owners.

"what an amazing fun inspiring game"

assassins creed 2 is a interesting and action packed game filled with historical figures and information, great gameplay and story, a vast improvement from the first one, a must have game for any adventurer.

"become a master assassin"
5 stars"

Assassin's Creed II is the follow-up to Ubisoft's 2007 hit that attracted a mass audience if not unanimous critical acclaim. The sequel is an expansive and bloody romp through Renaissance Italy that plays up every popular aspect of the first installment while righting many of its flaws. Assassin's Creed II has evolved from an ill-defined action game into a fully featured open world experience. Everything from the new monetary system to the ability to buy armor and weapons makes it a richer, and ultimately more satisfying game than its predecessor.

The plot of Assassin's Creed pulls together a bit of The Matrix, a lot of historical fiction, and throws in elements of the madcap conspiracy theories found in a Dan Brown novel. The series also has the benefit of being crafted by some of the most talented hands in game development. With only a handful of exceptions, the environments, animations, and art are beautifully portrayed. In addition to its good looks, the sequel's gameplay builds so much upon the foundations of the first game, that in retrospect, the first Assassin's Creed looks like little more than a technical demonstration.

Both fans and detractors of Assassin's Creed will be pleased to know that the sequel fully addresses and ties up many of the loose ends from the last game. It picks up exactly where we left off, with the kidnapped bartender Desmond locked in his cell at Abstergo. This corporation is the modern-day face of the Templars and they're after Desmond's valuable genetic memories. The magic of modern technology allows Desmond to relive the exploits of his Assassin ancestors. His genealogy puts him at the center of a war between the Templars and Assassins.
