Description

12-Step Sport Scholarship was created by a father who was trying to figure out a way to take personal control of his son's college recruiting process, rather than hope (or leave it up to a 3rd party) that some college coach would notice his son and offer him a chance to play in college. His main goal was to assist his son in getting into the best academic school possible. By speaking with high school and skill coaches who had placed players in college sport programs, interviewing parents who had student-athletes, and speaking with players themselves, the author was able to create a systematized approach to the college sports recruiting process. Initially, the book covers how student-athletes, parents, coaches, guidance counselors, and athletic directors can get a quick understanding of the process of how sports can be a springboard to getting into a great college and receiving financial assistance. Later in the book, the reader learns how the author applied what he successfully used in the sales and marketing business world to assist his son and many other student-athletes to receive a combination of sport scholarships and financial aid. 12-Step Sport Scholarship will lead the reader through the most efficient way of successfully navigating a complicated process using a straightforward methodology to: - determine if your student-athlete is eligible to receive financial aid to play college sports. - set time lines and follow important steps. - fit the recruiting process to your budget and not spend money needlessly. - use the Internet to discover the appropriate marketplace for the student-athlete. - ensure that the student-athlete is eligible to play at a 4-year college. - use the Internet to find coach's contact information. - use technology to promote the student-athlete. - build a successful highlight video. - interact with college coaches. - use the Internet to apply to colleges & financial aid. - determine how to make the right college choice. - follow through after you succeed! If you follow the step-by-step process, while at the same time the student-athlete has the drive to succeed, good grades, and athletic talent; dreams can come true.

Author Biography:

Scott B. Marsh never expected to go down the road of writing a book. What started as a search to find a kicking and punting coach for his youngest son Nick Marsh turned into an odyssey. He never expected that supporting his son's dreams would commence a journey of self-discovery, knowledge, and a way to help others. Scott grew up in Princeton, New Jersey. At age 13, his father became terminally ill, devastating the family's finances. Entering into his junior year of high school, Scott realized that good grades and his ice hockey talent could be the ticket to college. After playing ice hockey for two years at Utica College, a shoulder injury ended his playing days. Scott transferred to Temple University in Philadelphia and graduated with a B.B.A. Later, he attended the International Business Program at Stichting Nijenrode in Breukelen, the Netherlands. Over the years, Scott has held a variety of positions, most recently one in software sales management for a company specializing in corporate job recruiting technology, which became a strong asset in in creating the 12-Step Sport Scholarship system. Scott has interviewed 100's of successful scholarship achieving athletes, as well as, their parents and coaches. All of this resulted in creating a systematized approach to getting money to play college sports. Scott's home is in Petaluma, California, where he lives with his wife Carol.
