Boost your PC's speed with Intel Optane!

Computers

One of the biggest bottlenecks in modern consumer PC's is undoubtedly the Hard Drive. So often we sit there waiting with CPU at 11% usage, RAM at 33% usage, HDD at 100% usage sounding more like a jet plane while it spools up.

Intel has come up with pretty unique solution to this problem, in the form of Intel Optane.

These nifty little blue sticks are pretty unique. The idea behind Optane is that they are as fast as one of the modules on your RAM sticks, but the memory isn't volatile like RAM (so it stays on the flash when the system is turned off). Through some fairly clever algorithms, your PC will decide what is to be stored on the Optane modules. This is typically files from programs that are used the most!

TP-Link want to invite you into the world of Smart Home Automation.

What is Smart Home Automation? Simply put, it is taking something pretty standard in your current household, like a power outlet or a light bulb, and giving the user access to control this from a smart device.

The possibilities here are only limited by your imagination.

  • Turn a light on in your home when you are on holiday.
  • Set up your bedroom lights to come on in a warm glow as your alarm is about to go off.
  • Schedule a smart plug to automatically power electronics on and off.

Win Yourself a Super Fast Gaming Monitor!

Thanks to the team at AOC we have two G2460PF to give away this month!

This super fast monitor skimps nothing to deliver one of the fastest gaming experiences we have ever laid our eyes on. A 1ms Response Pixel Time from grey to grey (average is 5ms) and a 144hz Refresh Rate pumping out an astonishing 144 frames per second (standard is 60hz).

Can your PC keep up? :)

The combination of the two creates something truly amazing… So much more true to life than the movement and action you will see in your standard 5ms 60hz monitor or TV. Something you will only really have respect for once you have witnessed it in person.

Give your PS4 a Storage Boost

Reaching the upper limited of your beloved console's storage? The fix isn't as intimidating as you may think.

Back in the day, it was a pretty tedious task expanding the storage in your PS4. It would involve opening up the console and extracting the HDD that was hidden away inside. Thanks to some nifty updates from the team at Sony, it is nearly as simple as just plugging in a external storage device.

There are a couple specs that you need to hit with your Storage Device. It needs to be between 250GB and 8TB, and it needs to be USB 3.0 compatible.

It has to be noted that not all Hard-Drives are made equal. SSD storage devices and even SSHD Hybrid Drives will have an impact on how quickly your games will load, so definitely something to consider. In terms of performance/speed:
