10 Days to Victory follows ten ordinary characters over ten extraordinary days - ten overlapping stories all leading to the same point: the German surrender of May 1945. The clock starts ticking on Wednesday 25th April, when the US 1st Army links up with the Soviet forces on the Elbe River, effectively cutting Europe in two. Day by day the film takes us through the death throes of Fascist Europe: the fight and execution of Mussolini; Hitler's marriage, final testament and double suicide with Eva Braun; the fall of Berlin; the liberation of Dachau; and the bombing of Berchtesgaden. All these events are seen through the eyes of ten people caught up in turbulent times - many of whom kept diaries and wrote letters describing their experiences - giving a vivid first hand account of some of the most gripping and terrible ten days in history.
